Good point!

When Thai and Cambodian officials meet to discuss the temple, does each one keep using his own term?

I think "Preah Vihear" is the more common term among non-Thais--what would be used in guidebooks and the like. Yet I once called up the Thai government tourism agency in Bangkok and asked in English about how to get there, using "Preah Vihear." There was a pause for a moment or two: "Oh, you mean Phra Viharn."
