Translated from Khmer by Soch
Following the meeting between Hor 5 Hong and Christian Connan – the French ambassador – and Charles-Henri Brosseau – the deputy director of the Asian region at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs – to discuss about France’s aid to the KR Tribunal, Hor Sothun, the permanent secretary of the Cambodian ministry of Foreign Affairs and the son of Hor 5 Hong, told reporters in the name of his father that: “Regarding the arrest of additional KR leaders, it is a Cambodian issue. If we keep on arresting additional KR leaders, how can we unite and develop Cambodia? This issue must be decided by Cambodia. It affects Cambodia’s future, and no other country can tell Cambodia what to do.”
This statement came only one day after Human Rights Watch severely criticized the lack of independence and the government interference [in the KR Tribunal]. HRW also called on the removal of 2 judges from the KR Tribunal.
